well of course its better to get the shot before you become sexually active because then you are protected before you are exposed to HPV, but the tests show even girls that have sex become just as protected

As long as you do not have HPV already you should be fine ( and if you already had HPV you would not need the shot sooo).

HPV Shot protects u against 4 different strands of HPV. There r about 30 strands in total.

The 4 that it protects u against r 2 which cause warts & the 2 which cause most of the cervical cancers.

So yes if u have had sex before & u r positive for HPV. DEFINATELY go & get the shot. Because the shot will protect u against the other 3 Strands.

If u have had sex & have not contracted HPV or u might not know if u have contracted HPV, STILL get the SHOT!

The reason why they say it is more effective if u have not had sex, is because there is no way u will have any form of HPV yet. Meaning once u have had the shot u will be immune to all 4 strands prior to the risk of contracting one.

l got my second shot 2 weeks ago the doc told me it is intended for girls who are not sexually active, because if you have HPV obviously it wont be effective, but if you have and you tested negative for HPV it is effective.
