Early 2008 l had sex with a girl.l later learned she had slept with many guys.l was scared and went and got tested for everything possible about 4-5 months after we had sex.l tested negative for everything.l am asking because l have little red dots on the head of my penis and the foreskin (I am uncircumcised).They are not clustered but just randomly speckled and rap all the way around my head.They sometimes itch.They come and go at random lasting for maybe 72 hours.This totally sounds like herpes but l tested negative for it!!My doctor told me the blood test he gave me is only 50-60 percent accurate.However l have read that blood tests are >95 percent accurate. l trust my doc is intelligence.l am going to get tested again.Anyone experience something similar to this?and if anyone is a Doctor can they accredit my Doctor is belief that the blood tests are only 50 percent accurate? Can this be some sort of fungus that l need to take antibioticss to get rid of?

The blood test for herpes is only around that accuracy. It is good in that it rarely ever gives a false positive. However, because the herpes virus is so hard to grow, it is easy to get a false negative - u get a negative result even though u have the virus in you. This is true for the one l am familiar with - which is where they attempt to grow the virus in a culture. l do not know if there is a PCR or similar DNA test available for herpes.

The definitive diagnosis of herpes is by visual examination. Basically the doctor looks that the sore/lesion/rash & compares it to the various things herpes looks like. What you're describing could be essentially anything, including herpes. So u may get another test if you'd like, or u can let ur doctor see the rash through some means.

if blood test showed negative then u do not have herpes, herpes blood test are very accurate. if u are worring of having std, next times ask them to test for all std so u can clear your mind. u know how u feel, l had herpes i've been there.
