Alright here is the deal. I am freaking out right now. Know why?
I am getting the first shot of Gardasil tomorrow and l have been doing research - apparently it has actually KILLED AND PARALYZED women and young girls who have gotten the shot. l am freaking out of mind hearing this - l also have a phobia of needles so that does not really help.
My parents insist on getting it, but I am not even sexually active! I am 14 for god is sakes...

l just wanna know if it is a good idea to get it or not. l have some last minute stress about it and it is depressing for me...

l think it is a good idea, but some people are against vaccinations. There are ALWAYS side effects to every medication. You have to measure the pros and cons. You might not be sexually active now but you will at some point in your lives. Your parents are just trying to look out for you. But when it comes down to it, if you are not comfortable, tell you parents you do not want it and they should respect your feelings. You are not a child anymore.

A lot of that is propaganda. Basically there is a publically available database of everyone who is had a vaccine recently, & has another health problem. The religious right in America is lobbying -hard- against this vaccine, & that includes egregious misuse of medical data - they do not know that the vaccine killed these people, but they can imply strongly that it did.

Included in the deaths r a 12 year old girl with a heart condition, who died of a heart condition (aggravated by infection with the flu virus), a woman who was found dead a full sixty days after receiving her last shot, with no apparent cause of death (including the vaccine). Yet these deaths r being blamed on it by people with an agenda to push without any confirmation. In some cases, it was blatantly not caused by the vaccine.

They're not interested in the truth about this, or the numbers, they're interested in pushing a religiously based view of human sexual behavior. Regardless of what the happens in the real world, & regardless of how many people die of cervical cancer as a result.

l got the series of shots and l feel fine, no problems.

If you really do not want the shots, than you need to spell it out to your parents. They are just trying to protect you, and they mean well. Perhaps you may want to tell them that you would like to wait a few more years until you are ready.

its probably a good idea, but relax. My daughter has taken it w/o any problems. It was her idea, so l do not know much except we paid for it.

Its better than the other option of getting cervical cancer.

please research this before u decide. This is abrand new vaccine so if in ten years there is something wrong with it then l guess all the girls that got it will know. It only protects from a few strains of HPV & there r 100 is of strains. ask yourself why is there no vaccine for men huh? Where do they think girls r getting it! My gyno told me 85% of population has it thats like 1in 5! Do ur research please & ask ur dr lots of questions!

Hmmm thats only people that have a reaction to allegry against the vaccine or even having strokes or heart attacks during getting the shot when that occurs. l have gotten the 3 shot dose vaccine of gardasil which protects me from genital warts & four other types of hpv diseases it is a really good idea to get it just in case in the future u may delevope cervix cancer but lets hope not this will protect u from ever getting cancer in the cervix . But l do tell u not all woman can be protected from this CANCER so its a good idea to continue getting yearly cervix screenings in case . GOOD luck on what ever u choose & dont let info on the internet scare u .

but l got threw Hepitites Megengites ok,
i know ur no sexually acctive,
but it takes a while to start working,
it could take up to a year to start to work
the killed & paralyzed is not true,
the ONLY POSSIBLE way that it could paralize you
is if they gave it in ur back & they give it in ur arm,

but last year when l was in grade 7 all of the grade
8 girls got it, & im friends with quiet a few,
and none of them have died yet,
