(we started out using condoms, but once we were in a committed relationship we decided we would scrap the condoms) recently he had a small outbreak of genital warts, but had never told me he had them in the past. He got them 5 years ago and they were treated quickly after noticing the bumps. l have not had any warts show up yet, but l am wondering if it is possible that the virus had sat in his system this whole time? l know he would not cheat on me (we live together also) so thats out of the question. l am wondering if this whole time we have been sleeping together unprotected (if the virus is from his outbreak 5 years ago) if l have them too, but without any signs so far? Or could l have only contracted them in the last week of his newest outbreak?

you can get them when you have outbreaks and since your saying he had tha t5 years ago you probly got it from him but you need to get treatment for that and that stay with you your whole life.. dont have sex when you have an out break.. dont say that he is not cheating he probly is and he passed u another infection.. go to your doctor and se

Well this virus your talking about does't fade it stays in the body forever, An if you were having unprotected sex with him you may have contracted the virus also you should get screened for it and find out if you have it or not , An also get the vaccine for it to prevent you from getting cervix cancer and four other types of hpv diseases. Theres only a 3 dose of GARDASIL to take and theres months between your shots.Think about it.!

Yes, the disease can stay in your system for a life time and not show any effects. And my guess would be that it Farley likely that you’ve got it as well l suggest getting tested.

However I’m cereus as to why he wouldn’t tell you in the first place.

Okay something does not sound right because l have had genital warts(hpv) it does not stay with u for more than 2 years its an sti not an std its a sexually transmitted infection so it goes away in about 1 or 2 years unless u catch it again after it is gone mine has left my system l do not have it any more & l never had multiple outbreaks of the warts only the initial 1 he probably cheated on u & caught it again because that is not how this virus works herpes stays in ur body the nerve system & sleeps there until another outbreak not genital warts they r different & u can catch it any time especially because u not protecting yourself u can catch genital warts(hpv) while not even seeing an outbreak on ur partner u catch it from direct contact even with no signs of an outbreak that is how l got it & u may not know u have it either until after like 3 months so u can definately have it get checked & then get checked again 3 months after & use condoms until that thing leaves his body even if u can still catch it from ur vagina rubbing on his balls even if he has a condom on

If you are not married to the guy, there is no reason to be having unprotected sex first of all. If your not ready to bring a child into the world, then just don't. Condoms do not protect against STD is but they can help. If he has a disease theres a great chance you have it too even if you do not have symptoms. STD is do not just go away, they stay in the body and over time tend to get worse. l advise you to get checked and get treatment.

so im not sure if the sources r reliable, but anyway,
i'd like to share what l know from the online information

genital warts can be removed, but the virus in the body remains.
it might come back anytime. & it can be passed when someone comes into contact with the wart.
so l presume that when he has an outbreak, do not have unprotected sex. until he cleared the wart, then it should be fine.

and if u wonder if u have caught it, l guess the only way to find out is to go to the doctors if u find any bumps.
its tough to find out if there is like no outbreak or anything.

l came onto this site because l had come a few years ago when l was trying to work through contracting HPV. l was just curious to see if the group was still up. l feel compelled to reply after reading a few of the replies to this post. First & foremost, some of those who replied: u should be ashamed of yourselves. Do NOT share information that u have not recieved from a reputable source. & how DARE any of u judge on this site, that is not productive. This should be a SUPPORT site. Do not waste ur life with negativity-esp. toward STRANGERS how jaded r you??
now on to the poster- l can will share what happened to me & thats all l can go on: l contracted hpv from an ex 5 years ago. l had them burned off & used a Rx creme for a few weeks. Keep in mind this is when HPV became so public, doctors were learning as well. l dont know how things have changed. when l was first diagnosed a doctor told me that it would stay with me forever. that really messed me up. now my gyno said it is like a cold, u dont have a cold forever etc. so do ur own research on that. one thing l do know to be true then & now is this: u take care of the outbreak & it doesnt come back u have one of the strands that will not reoccur. if it is a reoccuring strand ur bf would have it more often than once every 5 years. to get the warts again then he needed to be re-exposed to a new strand of the virus, ergo, another girl. this does not mean he cheated. l do know that hpv can lay dormant in ur system for awhile. he possibly contracted it anytime between his initial outbreak & his recent one. another fact l am sure of is that men rarely show symptoms so the fact that he is getting warts at all-let alone twice-would lead me to believe, but l do not know for sure, that he has a unique, & most likely hard to get rid of/permanent. l would sincerely suggest getting a pap. if the pap comes back abnormal u could have hpv. remember, u may have warts & cant see/feel them. let the doc know u r concerned about hpv specifically. hope l helped, & please dont take stock in people with such poor outlooks. fyi-i am married to a wonderful, wonderful man. l had told him 3 years ago when we dated about having hpv (before my current doc proved to me through several paps that it was gone.but l still dont believe it but have never had more than the one outbreak) he has not shown any signs of hpv. but then again, there is no test for men.
take a deep breath, enjoy ur love, screw all those evil people. but keep ur eyes open about ur boyfriend. if u know in ur heart he is true then that is all that matters.
